Lowe’s is set to close 51 stores

Lowe’s Home Improvement has announced its closing 51 North American stores in 2019.

The chain says that some locations are underperforming and the decision will help the brand focus on its most profitable stores and ‘improve the overall health of its store portfolio,’ WLWT reports.

Lowe’s plans to close 20 stores in the U.S. and 31 in Canada. The stores will close before Feb. 1, 2019. The employees of the stores closing will hopefully keep their jobs at nearby Lowes stores, the company says.

“We believe our people are the foundation of our business and essential to our growth,” says CEO Marvin R. Ellison.
