3-D print ushers in new fashion

Louis Vuitton premiered a new menswear collection in style – with a 3D printed pop-up retail store. OMUS, a specialty 3D print provider in Australia, was tasked with creating a statement megastructure for Sydney’s Westfield shopping center in only three weeks. OMUS worked with Sydney-based Composite Images to create the display, which was exhibited for one week.

The 30 x 33 x 9-foot shell for the pop-up store was created with 30 panels produced on OMUS and Composite Images’ Massivit 1800  on Dimengel, each utilizing dual printheads to produce the job in just 18 days. The structure was then wrapped in . OMUS also printed onto 860 square feet of TexWalk floor vinyl with an HP Latex printer, and 270 square feet of Avery Dennison clear conformable vinyl with a Durst machine to create the floor graphic. The full project was installed by a small team in 24 hours.
