Startup introduces unique beverage to market

A startup brand has introduced its non-alcoholic drink with a surprising ingredient: Chilli.

Chillio was a concept created by three friends; Steve, Simon and Lee who were bored with the mainstream drinks, so they set out to find a more interesting product that would challenge the soft drink category.

Chillio was born from the trio’s desire to replicate the warm sensation of an alcoholic beverage but in a non-alcoholic drink.

The team experienced with different juices and discovered that adding chilli to a juice created an interesting and unconventional drink to the market.

Slice Design Limited helped with the design of the new beverages.

“Our brief was to create a premium bottle label design for three different flavors,” says Alan Gilbody, founder and director, Slice Design, in a release. “Based on a creative brief of ‘Awaken your senses,’ we incorporated the chilli into the negative space of the logotype to cue this surprise ingredient.”

The juice flavors include Pineapple Coconut & Lime, Pink Grapefruit & Ginger and Watermelon and Prickly Pear.

“The client was keen to use a glass bottle because of the strong badging credentials and it fit’s really well into the sector language. It also appears more premium than a can as it’s for the adult market,” says Charlotte Burrows, account manager at Slice Design.

Burrows also notes that it was important for the customer to see the color of the product because it really stands out.

“Slice were able to interpret our brief and communicate Chillio’s true essence, creating, what we believe to be a memorable brand design,” comments Stephen Laurie, co-founder of Chillio.
