Moyo Frozen Yogurt unveils compostable packaging partnership

Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) announced today that Moyo Frozen Yogurt, the leading frozen dairy dessert provider in Mexico and Latin America, will revitalize its packaging strategies with foopak Bio Natura compostable paperboard. Moyo Frozen Yogurt will source its sustainable packaging, including cups and paper goods to serve frozen yogurt, from APP’s strategic partner Paptech, a full-service printing, packaging manufacturer and distributor based in Mexico. Sold via Perez Trading, Paptech is one of the first packaging companies to offer APP’s award-winning, compostable product suite to the growing market, as announced in August.

Moyo Frozen Yogurt selected Bio Natura to revamp its paper packaging at a time when the food services industry actively seeks products that deliver on both sustainability and functionality goals. Bio Natura food packaging uses an innovative biodegradable water-based coating, a sustainable alternative to petroleum-based coatings, to ensure frozen yogurt does not seep through the paper. Unlike petroleum-coated board, Bio Natura can be easily composted or recycled for repulping without the need for additional treatment. Through testing by the Isega Institute, APP maintains scientific evidence that the stock can completely break down and return to nature by decomposing in a matter of 12 weeks.

“Consumers expect brands to make packaging decisions that reflect their sustainability goals,” says Anthony Atamini, sales director, APP Latin America. “We’re pleased to partner with Paptech and Moyo Frozen Yogurt to set a new industry standard here in Mexico, so brands can deliver environmentally-friendly packaging.”
