Barnes & Noble tests concept store

New store located in Illinois.

Barnes & Noble announced last week it is debuting a new concept store that it will be testing as the chain looks to reinvent its bookstore model.

The new store is located in Vernon Hills, Ill., featuring two “book theaters” where customers can notably explore new books in a 360-degree experience, the Chicago Business Journal reports.

The prototype concept store is 17,400-square feet and features oak bookshelves and wood grain tile floors. In children’s section there is a Lego table. All throughout the store there are comfortable chairs and tables for customers to relax or hang with friends. There are also self-serve kiosks throughout the store to help customers research and find books.

The chain is said to be testing several of these stores nationwide.
